Capping things off are seriously enviable older bottlings (back to 1985!) from Dunn, Opus One, and Spottswoode, plus a solid variety of more recent Peter Michael whites and reds. From the vault, we have a fabulous selection of 90s and 2000s Mondavi Reserve Cabernet, Harlan Estate’s The Maiden, and Joseph Phelps Insignia. Realm boasts a good slate as well, and Scarecrow shows off with 4 vintages of grand vin and 5 of Monsieur Étain, the second wine that drinks better than most Napa producers’ first.įinally, for fans of Napa’s Old Guard, we’ve got a smorgasbord. The Eisele could almost be a standalone offer, with an 8-vintage vertical of their legendary single vineyard Cabernet, plus a lone bottle of their epic Syrah. Three other cult producers represent well in this list: Araujo/Eisele, Realm, and Scarecrow, each with depth, spanning numerous vintages and bottlings, and multiple perfect scores from critics. Colgin needs no introduction, so we’ll add brief commentary: just like Marcassin, there’s a good argument to be made that Colgin is more dialed into their viticulture and winemaking than ever before, thanks to the relentless pursuit of perfection by winemaker Alison Tauziet and crew. We’ve got several cases of Pinot and Chardonnay available today, including some triple-digit bottlings. Husband and wife team Helen Turley and John Wetlaufer are somehow still only getting better after 40 years on the Sonoma Coast, continuing to rake in 100-point scores with nearly every new release. The former always receives a frenzied response when we offer it, and today should be no different. We open with some fan favorites: Marcassin and Colgin. We ran spotlights on Dominus and Shafer Hillside Select-both of which sold out in hours-so today we zoom back out and bring you a big list from the best names of the North Coast.

Today, after an uncharacteristically long gap (two months!) and tours of Beaujolais, the Rhône, Bordeaux, Champagne, Germany, and the Loire, we’re happy to return home to the Golden State. We just have such a diverse range of exciting wines to sell, it can take a while to circle back for a follow-up to previous offers. Elegantly balanced, the acidity and core structure deliver a persistent finish with hints of dark chocolate. We promise we don’t intentionally ignore certain wine categories when scheduling offers. A creamy entry gives way to layers of complexity which unfold in the mid-palate with velvety tannins enrobing a center of concentrated black-fruit. The 2013 Opus One offers splendid aromas of blueberry, cassis, and blackberries. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Malbec. Well-proportioned, showing a grip of fine-grained tannins that will benefit from cellaring. Seductive from the get-go, with a supple entry to the layers of complexity, mixing flavors of mocha, currant, plum, licorice, spice and cedary oak. A blend of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. This is built for the cellar and is the latest in a string of recent successes. On the palate the 2013 is more seriously structured than its polished 2013 sibling, framed by savory structural tannins. Dark cherries, plums, graphite, cassis and pencil shavings are. Red and black fruits, graphite, incense and incipient cedar meld together in a youthfully reserved bouquet that should blossom in bottle. One of the highlights among the more recent releases, the 2010 Opus One is flat-out gorgeous. The flavor remain quite primary, one of the signatures of this great Napa Valley vintage. Today, the 2013 reminds me of the 2010 when it was young, especially in its energy and pure power. The combination of fruit and structure is superb. Firm yet also voluptuous, the 2013 has it all. This will always be beautiful to drink.ĭark cherries, plums, smoke, licorice, new leather and menthol race across the palate in the 2013 Opus One. 79% cabernet sauvignon, 7% cabernet franc, 6% merlot, 6% petit verdot, 2% malbec. But will be even better in 2019 and beyond. Complex aftertaste of black fruits and citrus fruit.

Full body, superb balance of ultra-fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Roses continue to exude opulence and class. Terrific aromas of crushed black currants, blueberries and flowers with hints of sweet tobacco.
